Trade Resources on track to become the largest North American supplier of tantalum

Commerce Resources Corp. (TSXV: CCE, FSE: D7H) backed by their latest results of drilling, is on track to break ground in North America, the former independent of tantalum / niobium mine within two years.

However, this will not happen fast enough to help Boeing meet a 2008 year-end deadline for new aircraft Commercial 787 Dreamliner.

Boeing, in a move that points to a worldwide shortage of tantalum, has recently boosted its Dreamliner program in six months. In the first 30 to 35 of the new passenger aircraft will not be delivered until 2009, both due to software integration problems and lack of corrosion, tantalum closures resistant.

Commerce is still in the midst of a two-year long provincial environmental assessment on the property of their superior fir, 300 miles north of Kamloops in central British Columbia, what should be done in May or June 2008.

However, SOG released in July 2004 that could have ended their high quality surface (300 g / t, with 55% recovery rate), forcing capital expenditures in underground mining of lower grade deposits.

The potential mine life can double or even triple the results of another 18 wells drilled during the summer. (Carbonatites types are equally rare rocks containing rare minerals such as niobium and tantalum.)

Moreover, the exploration of this past summer turned two new carbonatites – lower gum Creek and Lower Switch Creek – about two miles east of the Upper Fir deposit. Currently, the company is awaiting the results back from the drilling site of the Switch Creek, driven by an anomalous sample late 1980 with 2,900 grams per tonne (g / t) tantalum. That compares with an average of 200 g / t in the upper reservoir of fir.

While the work is now concentrated in the Upper Fir, Commerce had played an area of 500 square kilometers, including spruce and properties of Verity. Last month, the company doubled its bet on another property 95 claims over 100,000 acres south of the Bone Creek watershed.

The claims cover a large ultramafic area about 12 km southeast High Pine reservoir and Trade to the ownership of mineral tenure in areas where the infrastructure of mines can be built.

The higher property FIR has an indicated resource of 8.6 million tonnes grading 208.9 g / t Ta2O5 and 1372 g / t Nb2O5 and an inferred resource of 5.5 million tonnes, grading of 208.2 g / t Ta2O5 and 1349 g / t Nb2O5.

The FIR deposit has an indicated resource of 5.65 million tonnes grading 203.1 g / t Ta2O5 and 1,047 g / Nb2O5 t with an inferred resource of 6.74 million tonnes grading 203.1 g / t Ta205 and 1,047 g / t Nb2O5.

The Verity property has an inferred resource of 3.06 million tonnes grading 196 g / t Ta2O5 and 646 g / t Nb205.

The niobium metal has a wide range of properties – heat resistance, high conductivity heat, elasticity, corrosion resistance, and the ability to form a stable adhesive layer of oxide.

But it is more appreciated for use in the alloy steels used in pipelines, automobiles and structural steels. A 2% alloy of niobium, may triple the tensile strength of steel PSI (pounds per square inch) of 40,000 to 120,000 PSI, which is a reasonable alternative to vanadium.

Price of niobium has also soared this year, $ 7 U.S. per pound in January to its current level of around U.S. $ 28/lb. Encouraged by the healthy market last spring staked 88 claims in Commerce Labrador Quebec Trough, about eight claims held by Virginia Mines Inc. (TSX: VGQ).

These eight claims covering most of the Eldor Carbonatite Complex, elliptical-shaped area about 2.5 km 7.75 kilometers with known localized high concentrations of niobium and tantalum. Grab and channel samples have ranged from 1.15% to 11.4% Nb205 and 0.046% -0.21% Ta205.

In May, for the price of 710,000 shares and 290,000 share purchase warrants, trade on complaints Virginia mines and embarked on a summer soil sampling and line cutting. The results of these trials should be available in November.

The Carbonatite Eldor compares in size to the Araxa Carbonatite Complex in Brazil, which measures about 4.5 km in diameter. It contains the largest known deposit in the world of pyrochlore, the obtained from niobium, and is mined by Brazil's Companhia Brasileira de Metalurgia e Mineração (MBC).

MBC, currently providing up to 70% of the world, says it has sufficient reserves to meet the global need for niobium for the next 500 years. However, private enterprise can not meet reporting standards as public Canadian companies. In addition, buyers look for in product quality is known MMBC around checking other suppliers.

While trade has had a standing invitation for partnership proposals, a recent private placement of 32.746 million dollars added to the $ 7.5 million on hand, means the company can now manage on their own.

Another 45 million U.S. dollars could be raised through the exercise of warrants to bring the total funding of just over $ 80 million, enough for Blue River in production.

With the highway Yellowhead and the Canadian National Railroad crossing on both the property of Commerce, the company will have an easy option of sending its tantalum concentrate, processed in the mine, either Vancouver or Edmonton.

The next step would be to convert the tantalum oxide concentrate, but trade has not yet considered whether it would build its own processing plant, associated with another firm or product hand at that point.
